Since I don't have much to really talk about considering school and my two jobs consume my life.. I'm going to talk about how I have two opportunities open. I need to make a decision on which one, but need some insight.
So, choice number one would be a part-time Marketing Assistant. I came about this job by networking through my boss at my internship. He wrote me a letter of recommendation and it got my foot in the door. It pays great, and I would gain some useful experience for my job search once graduation rolls around. However, it's part time (20 hours a week) and am not sure if there would be any opportunity for more hours after graduation. This relates to my major and holds a lot of advancement options post-graduation, though.
The second option would be as a part-time business intern during the semester, and full-time this summer. It also pays really well, and they said that they hire 90% of their interns full-time after graduation. This would also be a good opportunity. However, their office here is small and their headquarters are in Minnesota. This is all fine and dandy, but I am supposed to be moving in with my boyfriend after graduation. Since he works for the state, he doesn't want to forfeit his good pension as well as good position and job security. So his willingness to relocate is slim to none. This reason is kind of ignorant and cheesy, I am aware. Regardless, the job is still full-time this summer with good pay.
I'm pretty positive that I am being offered both jobs. (If not, then I have a pretty easy choice, right?!) I still don't know which one to choose. I guess I will have to flip a coin. Just kidding, but seriously.
My indecisiveness at it's finest...
Liz,
ReplyDeleteI don't think that you can go wrong with either job. You are so fortunate to have both of these interviews. They both suit your major and future. Once you go through each interview I think that you will know which one will be the best suit for you. One thing to consider is that one will guarantee you a job post graduation. Anyway, best of luck! you'll do great!
Both sound like great opportunities! I totally understand being indecisive, I'm the same exact way. But I think that, if you and your boyfriend are close and have been together awhile, you should probably consider that too. I'm only saying that because you mentioned it being a cheesy and silly reason, but I totally get it. I know I'm engaged, but even if I wasn't, we (my fiance and I) would still be moving together wherever we went. I don't know your situation, but don't feel bad factoring in your boyfriend if he's someone you really care about and want to factor in. I hope I'm not out of place saying that... I just wanted to encourage you that you're not the only one! Good luck in your decision!
ReplyDeleteI mean both jobs are great BUT... I think you should work for Cummins Family Restaurant. Because they do have some delicious pies and plus Lynne is a GREAT boss. Just saying... lol
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone.. I actually accepted the Marketing Assistant position with CityLink because I enjoyed the interview process and job description much more.
ReplyDeleteRon- Obviously I am going to work at Cummins as my full time position when I graduate. Me and Lynne are BF4L.
Congratulations Liz! Celebrate with Cummins pie...
